Athletics

Regina High School’s outstanding athletic program affords girls many opportunities to participate in competitive sports.  In addition to the development of physical skills, organized sports teaches students important lessons about teamwork, discipline, perseverance, and good sportsmanship.

INTERSCHOLASTIC ATHLETICS:  Classification for the participation of interscholastic sports is based on enrollment.  Regina High School is classified as a Class B school, however, in some sports, the school has requested Class A status in order to be engaged in competition with schools having a greater enrollment. The Interscholastic Program provides students the opportunity to participate in competitive sports with some of the largest school systems as well as those of comparable enrollment in the State of Michigan.  The athletic program operates under the limitations of available facilities, funds, and the regulations of the Archdiocesan Catholic League and the Michigan High School’s Athletic Association.

INTRAMURAL ATHLETICS:

Intramural sports activities, organized and supervised by the Intramural Director,  offer students the opportunity to play competitive sports with teams comprised of only Regina students to enjoy healthy rivalry within the school.  The degree of student interest determines which sports are offered.  Both the interscholastic and the intramural athletic programs give students the experience of practicing good sportsmanship, school involvement and loyalty, which are elements of good school spirit and healthy rivalry.

SCHOOL SPIRIT:

School spirit is shown in courtesy, pride, and sportsmanship whether at home or away. Loyal students support their school, their teams, their teachers and peers and do their utmost to keep their academic and activity standards at the highest possible level.  Students with spirit have pride in their school and they leave after four years carrying away great memories that last a lifetime!

POWDERPUFF FOOTBALL:

This Senior activity should not interfere with academics.  Therefore, because of the number of days and the amount of time given to practices, only Seniors with a six semester G.P.A. of 1.75 or higher may participate in Powderpuff Football.  The Administration in consultation with the individual student’s Guidance Counselor and/or teachers can make an exception to this regulation.
