Admissions Overview

Regina High School is committed to assisting parents in their efforts to maintain the right to exercise a free choice among schools for their children.  Regina High School actively promotes its independence and diversity relative to state-supported schools and institutions, while continually maintaining a commitment to excellence in education.

Regina High School admits students of any race, nationality, and ethnic origin to all rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded students at the school.  It does not discriminate on the basis of race, nationality, or ethnic origin in the administration of its educational policies, admissions, scholarships, athletics, and other school administered programs.

Admission to Regina High School is a privilege that carries with it certain responsibilities.  Students must be able to accept an unqualified commitment to uphold the highest ethical standards, both in their academic work and in their high school life.  The school reserves the right to cancel enrollment and to require withdrawal whenever it becomes evident that the student is not conforming to the school's standards of scholarship and conduct.

The Admission Committee considers the potential for each student’s success when reviewing applications to Regina High School.  The Committee examines a student’s Application for Admission, standardized test scores, reports of past academic and behavioral performance, and teacher recommendations.  Final admission decisions are made on an individual basis.  Regina High School adheres to Title IX regulations regarding admission procedures.

In order to insure a prompt admissions decision, the following items are required from 8th graders interested in enrolling at Regina High School:

* The Application for Admission. This form is given to all freshman applicants at elementary school visits, and to those taking the High School Placement Test. It is also available on the website at reginahs.com. The application should be returned to Regina High School by December 14, 2009. APPLY NOW

* The Archdiocese of Detroit Student Profile. The Student Profile form is given to all students take the High  School Placement Test. It is also available on the school website. After a parent signs the release, both forms are submitted to the current 8th grade teacher or counselor. School personnel complete the Student Profile and send it and other requested documents (report cards and standardized test scores) directly to Regina High School.  The Student Profile is due by December 14, 2009. * The High School Placement Test (HSPT). This test is administered at Regina High School on Saturday, November 21, 2009. No pre-registration is required and the test fee is $24.00. Students need to bring #2 pencils and report to the school’s main entrance by 7:45 a.m. to begin testing by 8:00 a.m. The test lasts approximately four hours. On testing morning, students complete two “choice” cards indicating which high schools should receive their test scores. When making admissions decisions, Regina High School gives preference to first choice applicants and then considers second choice applicants if spaces exists in the class. Students may take the HSPT one time only during their 8th grade year. Please contact the school for information regarding special accommodations testing and make-up dates.

Optional for all applicants:

*  Letters of Recommendation. A student may ask a teacher, counselor, coach, or principal to write a letter describing the applicant’s attributes and talents.

* Shadow Visit (Strongly suggested). Interested 8th grade students are strongly encouraged to visit Regina High School for a day. The visitor follows a 9th grade host student’s schedule, eats lunch in the cafeteria, and tours the school. Please call the Admissions Office, 586-585-0500 ext. 242, to schedule the visit.
