Technology Department Courses

Computer 1
Microsoft Office 2007 forms the core of the initial computer course. Students learn how to efficiently and effectively use word processing and presentation software. Additional emphasis is placed on keyboarding skills for accuracy and efficiency.

Students typically finish this semester course with a minimum keying speed of 25 AWPM, although some students progress beyond this number considerably.  Much depends on the ability of each student, just as in other subject areas.

Students are exposed to activities such as file management and network use in a Windows Vista environment, skills expected by many organizations today.  They learn how to format documents such as letters and reports using Modern Language Association and other accepted formats.

As with Computer 1, file management and network use in a Windows Vista environment is expected.
